Plastic surgeons are doing more and more business each year as Americans live longer and want to keep looking young and beautiful. Even younger patients now consider plastic surgery to be a viable solution for how they want to look.
Let’s talk about the nine hottest trends in plastic surgery today in the United States:
Last year there were more than 300,000 breast augmentation surgeries performed. This is a procedure that can enhance a woman’s bust, making the breasts larger and more contoured.
Most breast implant procedures are done with silicone implants, and some use saline implants. You and the surgeon will discuss which type of implant is best for you and how you ultimately want to look.
Liposuction is when a surgeon takes a metal rod and suctions fat out of the abdominal area or another area where the patient wants to immediately lose fat cells. It is invasive and requires anesthesia, but patients are usually very pleased with the results.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift and Shaping)
Eyelid surgery can be done to correct deformities or to give the eye a more appealing shape and appearance. It is the correction or modification of the upper and/or lower eyelids, especially fixing droopy eyelids.
This surgery involves removing tiny amounts of excess skin, fat, and muscle around the eye. After the procedure, patients usually report being able to see more clearly, and their eye doctors have better access to their eyes during an examination.
Abdominoplasty (“Tummy Tuck”)
A tummy tuck is one of the three procedures that comprise a “mommy makeover” (tummy tuck, breast lift, and liposuction). Abdominoplasty involves removing loose, sagging skin in the abdominal area.
This is an excellent procedure after having children or after dramatic weight loss. Your body will look and feel firmer and more healthy.
Many women who have extremely large breasts tend to develop back problems caused by the excess weight in front. This procedure brings the bust down to a more normal size while still looking shapely. You and your surgeon will discuss what your ideal size would be.
Rhinoplasty (“Nose Job”)
In rhinoplasty, the surgeon will alter the shape and/or size of the nose. In some cases, a nose job is done for health reasons, such as to help breathing become easier for the patient.
For example, for a person with a deviated septum, the surgery would likely be covered under insurance. This is also true if there is a deformity that is making it difficult to breathe while sleeping.
This cosmetic procedure involves the removal of wrinkles, and the tissues under the skin are tightened and excised. Excess skin from the face and neck are also removed.
Not to be confused with a breast augmentation, this is a lift procedure for women whose breasts are sagging. This may be due to having children, losing a lot of weight, or simply the aging process.
This surgical procedure is done to correct sagging of the skin in the forehead. It can also include the eyebrows and upper eyelids to remove wrinkles and make you look younger.
